1. Create a daily task list
Start every day with a list of tasks you hope to accomplish. Something you should keep in mind is setting obstacles or challenges to help you improve on certain things you're lacking. As you finish those tasks, check them off the list and enjoy the sense of accomplishment you get with each check.
2. Prioritize your tasks
Writing out a list of tasks is one thing. But you also have to know how to prioritize those tasks. Prioritize the most immediate tasks first. These tasks might be those that are due sooner or take more time to complete. If a task feels too big, break it into smaller tasks to make it feel more realistic. After that, you can organize your tasks based on importance, due date, etc.
3. Minimize distractions
Distractions are the enemy of anyone trying to manage their time. Find ways to block out distractions as much as possible. Turn on “do not disturb” on your phone or work computer. Listen to your favorite music to block out noisy office chatter. If you work better in a group, don’t be afraid to call your friends. Most importantly, take breaks from social media sounds cliche but it works!
4. Avoid multitasking
We all heard of burnout. By working or pushing ourselves too far by taking on more than we can handle. It is scientifically proven that burnout often leads to an overload in your brain, where you work yourself into an extremely depressing state. Instead of getting everything done at once, separate your time by days, weeks, and even months to avoid feeling overwhelmed. Our brain can only focus on one or two things at a time so avoid multitasking. Switching between tasks would only disorients your brain, so avoid it if you can.
5. Take breaks
Breaks are essential for helping us focus. By adding breaks into your schedule, you’ll feel more energized and motivated to keep going. Use your breaks to get a drink, grab a snack food, talk to a friend in person or on social media.
